Addressing issues of low energy access in rural communities is vital for improving livelihoods and renewable energy has the potential to dramatically transform communities which lack reliable and affordable energy. The REAP (Renewable Energy Agro-Processing) hub project aims to provide sustainable access to renewable energy and enhance food production capacities in rural communities. The project will develop locally-tailored solutions for remote areas, through community engagement and needs assessment. In collaboration with Smart Villages Research Group and NjordFrey the project will deploy renewable energy technologies for high-yield fish and vegetable production. A digital monitoring system optimizes energy and production demands, promoting efficiency and cost reduction. In addition to, supporting progress towards SDG7 and SDG13 REAP integrates energy into productive systems – fostering economic growth, employment opportunities, and improved incomes.
