Kenya-based company Enso Trading, uses heat recovery, airflow, and solar thermal technology for agri-processing. This project works with producers and processors in moringa and mango value chains to help them reduce post-harvest losses. These losses happen when products go bad before they can be sold.

The project will demonstrate the effectiveness of solar-thermal drying for moringa processing. It will design, build and commission a high-capacity dryer able to operate 24/7 on renewable energy at a moringa facility that serves 500 farmers. The solar thermal system has many advantages over existing technology, such as, it dries produce faster and keeps a constant temperature that can be monitored from afar. It’s also less expensive and easier to install. This will help create products that meet the requirements of international buyers who want to expand their supply chains to East Africa.
