Fruit and vegetable products have high moisture content and to combat the energy consumption associated with these products, the key target is to reduce conventional drying techniques’ energy consumption, operating costs and carbon footprint through a low-temperature drying process.

SOLARSAVER2 focuses on delivering a sustainable business model through low-carbon, off-grid drying solutions. The project aims to create value for small- and large-scale agricultural producers and other stakeholders. It does this by adding a new sustainable technical and processing solution at a pricing level suitable for deployment in Africa and Asia to create highly nutritious products and reduce food waste. Extensive operations and trials are planned in Tanzania, including local manufacturing.
