VIDEO – SteamaCo: Deploying a cloud-based connectivity solution to make clean power more accessible

In Kenya, where around 40% of the population are not connected to grid electricity, SteamaCo is working to provide a smart-meter powered solution. The company is on a mission to deliver clean power to all, at a price consumers can afford. SteamaCo utilises the world’s lowest data-usage smart meter to provide a cost-effective method of connectivity. By connecting remote consumers to the cloud, a pre-paid meter system can provide users with power in minutes, while also enabling providers to collect useful data and manage grids remotely. With support from Energy Catalyst, SteamaCo is partnering with Kenyan mini-grid utility Kudura Power, streamlining the payment process and reducing operational costs for utility providers to ultimately deliver clean power to more users.
