Stage: Round 10
Tiwakiki Consulting Ltd are working to integrate solar photovoltaic power and biomethane from biodigestion of waste biomass to create a 24-hours’ electricity supply mini-grid for the Rwenjeru Agrotourism and Demonstration Farm in Uganda. The project will also implement a renewable milk chiller and develop a business plan for future scale-up.
The project will use a waste-to-energy anaerobic digestion system to process food and agricultural waste into clean renewable energy for the agrotourism business and over 1,000 farmer’s households. A smart mini-grid will be used to measure and optimise the energy usage, generation and storage, and engage with stakeholders to improve energy policy in Uganda. Overall, the project will reduce emissions, improve air quality, increase environmental awareness, enhance security, and improve the quality and quantity of food for the households.
