Building on a successful early-stage project, this initiative by Alta Vision addresses the urgent need for affordable, reliable, and carbon-free energy for Sri Lankan tuk-tuk drivers. Through support from Energy Catalyst it aims to convert internal combustion engine tuk-tuks to electricity, powered by clean solar energy. Tuk-tuk drivers, crucial for income in Sri Lanka, currently lack suitable energy sources. With over 1.2 million petrol-powered tuk-tuks causing significant air pollution, the project aims to refine the innovative tuk-tuk conversion and battery subscription scheme. Led by Alta Vision (Pvt) Ltd and partnered with Large Minority and academic experts, the team seeks to mature the user-centered technology and business model, addressing technical and business challenges for successful implementation.
