Sunstore technologies
Measuring the environmental, economic and health impacts of deploying the SunstorePowerpan - a combined food processing and electricity generating solar appliance - in townships across South Africa
Stage: Round 8
Sunstore Technologies has pioneered the Sunstorepowerpan XLM, a solar hybrid cooking and electricity generation unit designed to cook various foods and produce 2000 portions of rice in 24 hours. Ideal for large-volume scenarios like community feeding stations or schools, it can simultaneously generate 200 Watts of electricity using smokeless biochar, exceeding the output of equivalent photo-voltaic panels at a lower cost. The unit, equipped with a solar-tracking water tower, aims to improve the lives of 3.5 billion people dependent on biomass, offering electricity to the 1.2 billion off-grid population, and enhancing human productivity. Deployed at scale, it could significantly reduce global CO2 emissions, combat food and fuel poverty, and provide eco-friendly nutrition and power to off-grid communities.
