Pyrogenesys
PyroPower Africa Stage 2
Stage: Round 8
PyroPower, a 100-kW waste-to-energy technology developed by PyroGenesys and ICMEA-UK, aims to convert agricultural waste into renewable electricity, process heat, and biofuels. Part of Energy Catalyst Round 6, the project collaborates with Mobinet for mobile banking services and prioritizes engaging women farmers and disadvantaged groups. ATMANCorp hosts the pilot on a cassava farm, supplying agricultural waste for biofuel production. Aston University focuses on continuous liquid biofuel processes, while Ardova PLC introduces renewable biofuels to the Nigerian market. Lessons from the pilot will inform the rollout of 100 PyroPower installations within Ardova’s filling station network, supported by Mobinet’s SIMPAY for cashless electricity purchases, and Coal Products Limited manages the export of solid biofuels as a renewable alternative to coal.
