Transmission heAlth Monitoring (TAM)
Stage: Round 3
The TAM project aims to offer the Wind Energy Sector and British Gear Association Partners a Health Monitoring System, enhancing through-life costs, and improving the supply, efficiency, and reliability of UK wind energy. High costs result from frequent, unpredictable failures of high-value transmission components (e.g., gearboxes), preventable with reliable fault detection. This collaborative project aims to explore advanced eddy current sensor and electronics technologies, leveraging research from the University of Oxford and integrating technology transfer from partners in the Aerospace and Defence sectors, along with expertise from the Wind Turbine manufacturing industry.
