Stage: Round 10
South Sudan faces a critical lack of clean water and reliable energy, and this scarcity impacts education and healthcare. With less than half the population accessing water, life expectancy is low, and infant mortality rates are high. Aptech has consulted with the South Sudan government and local NGOs to introduce a new project featuring an innovative Electrical Storage System (ESS) and Solar Water Pumping.
The pilot project aims to provide continuous power and water through community water kiosks. Solar energy installation ensures uninterrupted power for schools and hospitals. The solar-powered water pumping and backup system provide clean water all day. This benefits the whole community, including schools and hospitals. It also avoids the uncertain costs of diesel generators by selling water. The money from water sales will support maintenance and replacement costs.
