Nigeria has limited and unreliable grid electricity supply, limiting industrial growth and productivity. Power intermittency and being off-grid cause industries to rely on highly polluting, costly diesel generators.

Saturated wet steam is common in thermal processes in industries that produce waste heat. Through Heliex Power’s technology, these industries can generate power from wet steam and Heliex’s technology has already proven successful in Europe. However, in its current form, the solution requires grid connectivity. This project aims to develop the electrical and control systems of Heliex Power’s technology to allow off-grid use. It would make the technology much more suitable to industries in countries like Nigeria. It will significantly reduce emissions in the long run and make it affordable for industrial customers to run their factories. The latter is increasingly important with Nigeria’s removal of government diesel subsidies.
