Gommyr Power Networks
In Mozambique, artisanal fishing accounts for 90% of the total catch, and over 15% of households depend on it for their livelihoods. However, energy and transportation gaps along the coast limit resource availability and market access. Enter GoHubs Mozambique is a network of solar-battery microgrid hubs designed to provide reliable renewable energy solutions. These hubs aim to unlock markets, reduce fish losses, and enhance the local fishing sector.
GoHubs integrates energy-intensive operations like ice production, cold storage, water pumping, and electric refrigerated transport, powered by on-site solar-battery microgrids. This bundling approach ensures a continuous, reliable cold chain from boat to market.
This is an Energy Catalyst supported pilot project with a community fish market in Mozambiques, Inhambane Province. The project seeks to improve livelihoods and demonstrate how renewable cold chains can unlock green growth.
