BSL addresses global energy poverty, with over 1.2 billion lacking electricity. Despite the dramatic growth of solar panel technology, off-grid rural areas in India, SE Asia, and Africa face limited adoption due to high costs. BSL’s PowerRoll is a groundbreaking, ultra-lightweight, and low-cost photovoltaic solution, offering renewable energy at a fraction of the cost of conventional panels. Weighing as little as 2% of current PV products, PowerRoll removes barriers to solar deployment in rural areas. The project focuses on developing and demonstrating applications for Sub-Saharan African, Indian, and SE Asian off-grid communities, collaborating with expert subcontractors and partners, including TERI, Unilever, and Newcastle University.
