Energy SRS
GENSSIS (Gravitational Energy Storage & Synchronous Inertial Stability)
Stage: Round 3
A consortium of six UK companies will conduct a detailed study on the feasibility of developing a gravitational potential energy-based technology for zero-emission ancillary grid balancing services with National Grid Electricity Transmission plc. This is the opportune time to explore cost-effective and reliable technologies to reduce carbon emissions.
The project has merged many existing technologies into the design to function in a completely new area of operation. For example, integrating offshore oil and gas industry techniques with modern products like synthetic rope yields cutting-edge solutions. The project is commercially innovative as it identified a utility application, reproducing electrical energy without carbon emissions or toxic chemicals.
