DryGro Energy Crops

Stage: Round 4

The DryGro Energy Crops (DEC) project aims to develop a method for producing biofuels on currently arid lands. Utilizing the DryGro system, which reduces water requirements for biomass production by 99% compared to conventional agriculture, DEC will explore biofuel production in Kenya and assess its applicability in other arid regions.

Comprehensive Life Cycle and Integrated Sustainability Assessments will gauge the social, environmental, and developmental impacts of this approach. The DEC initiative is expected to mitigate negative effects on food production, water security, biodiversity, and land tenure associated with existing biofuel production methods.
