Zero Emission Vehicle Battery Remanufacturing for Energy Storage Applications (Project ZEBRA)

Stage: Round 4

This project addresses the environmental impact of 9 million tonnes of End of Life (EoL) automotive waste in the EU, particularly from Electric Vehicles (EVs). Aceleron, Blue Vine Consultants, and Alp Technologies collaborate to showcase a sustainable approach to EoL automotive batteries. Instead of traditional material breakdown, the project demonstrates safe disassembly, testing, and rebuilding of these batteries into Energy Storage (ES) devices. These devices offer a cost-effective solution for electricity storage in developing regions with unreliable power sources, benefiting communities with limited access to electricity. Alp Technologies will provide a demonstration of the battery packs’ capabilities in this innovative project.
