Use of innovative techniques to ensure Lithium brine supply for the low-cost battery market
Stage: Round 7
Lithium, the 27th most abundant element, concentrated in South America’s Lithium Triangle, is a key resource, primarily in Bolivia. This project aims to accelerate Bolivia’s lithium production, fostering economic development through responsible and sustainable extraction. Utilizing remote sensing data, the study focuses on creating an efficient workflow for lithium extraction from Uyuni, the world’s largest lithium brine deposit. It involves basin-scale geological analysis, hydrology, and salar characterization, translating into numerical models for optimal wellfield development. The objective is a universal framework for cost-effective global battery production, applicable to various salars.
